Practice papers

Using a practice paper

Start by checking your exam board and specification code. A similar subject name doesn’t guarantee that a paper covers your course. Your teacher can confirm the code if you’re unsure.

Choose the right paper

Match the qualification, tier and entry option. For a complete practice set, use papers from the same exam series. Read the instructions on the paper for its timing and permitted materials.

Check the paper’s instructions for any insert, source booklet, data sheet or audio you need to complete the practice set. Read any correction or missing-content note before starting; save marking notes until you mark your answers.

Some pandemic sittings used exceptional arrangements. Historical advance information applies only to the named exam sitting, not to a future exam.

Mark what you wrote

Open the mark scheme for that paper and exam series. Record the marks awarded to your answers. Ask your teacher for help with answers you find difficult to judge.

An examiner report can help explain common mistakes in that exam. Use it alongside the paper and mark scheme.

Use the result

Identify the questions where you lost marks and decide what to practise next. A complete set of marks can be compared with the historical qualification boundaries for that series, where LearnFaster has matching data.
